Homestead Remodeling Journey: Fixing Water, Rebuilding the Bathroom, and Planning the Kitchen

Homestead Remodeling Update: Tackling Water Issues, Bathroom Fixes, and Kitchen Dreams

Finally Making Progress on the Remodel

I’ve been trying to get my ex, Matt, out here for years with no luck. If you don’t know, Matt builds houses for a living—he can literally build an entire place from the ground up. That’s exactly why I wanted him out here to help me remodel this old mobile home.

Out of the blue a few months ago, he finally called me. And then, over Labor Day weekend, he came out and stayed the whole weekend. That was the turning point for this remodel journey.

First Up: Water Issues

When Matt first showed up, the water situation was a mess. He got to work immediately, tackling the plumbing problems that had been holding everything back. Over the two weekends he’s been here, he’s fixed most of the major water issues and made a huge difference already.

Bathroom Remodel: A New Shower and Ceiling Fix

Last weekend, Matt tore down the shower walls in my master bathroom, rebuilt the shower, and moved it to a much better spot. This weekend, he’s coming back to tile the shower, patch the hole in my bathroom ceiling, and finish up the last of the water repairs.

Looking Ahead: The Kitchen Project

Once the bathroom and water issues are wrapped up, I’ve got my eyes on the kitchen. I’ve already ripped out half of the cabinets, and I’m planning to open up the space by combining the kitchen and living room into one big kitchen and dining room.

From there, I’d love to add a brand-new large living room onto the back of the home as an addition. The kitchen as it stands is way too small for my taste—I want a full remodel to create the space exactly how I envision it.

Now, whether Matt agrees that the kitchen should be next… we’ll see. Either way, this homestead remodel is finally moving forward.

Wrapping It Up

Between fixing the water, rebuilding the shower, and planning out a full kitchen remodel, this mobile home is slowly but surely becoming what I’ve always wanted. I’ll keep sharing updates as we tackle each project.

Until next time—keep homesteading, keep pushing forward, and keep going against the grain of the false systems trying to box us in.
